Maintaining a stable liquid level in the mold is one of the keys to reducing stainless steel leakage and achieving good surface quality of the billet. If the liquid level fluctuates by more than 10mm from the soil, the cause of the fluctuation should be identified and measures taken in a timely manner.
The factors that affect liquid level fluctuations include:
(1) The amount of Ar blown by the intermediate package stopper rod or immersion nozzle is too large;
(2) Water inlet blockage;
(3) The change in pulling speed is too large, causing excessive fluctuations in the liquid level;
(4) The blockage of the submerged nozzle is severe, causing the steel liquid to flow laterally at the outlet and causing the liquid level to fluctuate.
Generally, when the liquid level of the crystallizer fluctuates too much, the low pressure casting speed should be appropriately reduced, and after the liquid level stabilizes, the casting speed can be restored.
