Hot delivery and charging of continuous casting billets and their advantages

Posted by: steel world 2023-10-17 Comments Off on Hot delivery and charging of continuous casting billets and their advantages

Compared with traditional production processes from molten steel to billets, continuous casting technology saves a lot of energy and materials. After the energy crisis of the 1970s, energy conservation has become one of the important issues facing the steel industry. Why not use this heat to directly send the cut billets to the heating furnace at high temperatures, as the surface temperature of the billets is generally above 800-900 ℃ after being cut to length? For this reason, people have proposed the hot delivery and hot charging process of continuous casting billets, which utilizes the heat of continuous aluminum die casting billets in conjunction with corresponding measures to closely connect with the rolling process. Compared with cold charging of continuous casting billets, the main advantages of hot delivery and hot charging of continuous casting billets are:
(1) Energy conservation. The higher the temperature at which the billet is hot charged into the furnace, the better the energy-saving effect.
(2) Improve yield and save metal consumption. Due to the reduction of heating time for billets due to hot delivery and charging, some are only heated locally, or even not heated, reducing the burning loss and oxidation of iron and improving the yield.
(3) Simplified production process, saved factory buildings and labor, and reduced investment costs.

(4) Due to simplified production processes, reduced processes, and improved product quality.
