The characteristics of the oval-square hole system are as follows:
(1) Large elongation coefficient;
(2) The position of the corners of the rolled piece can be changed, so that the metal spinning surrounding the rolled piece can be cooled more evenly;
(3) The rolled piece can be compressed in multiple directions. This deformation method is beneficial to improving the internal structure of the rolled piece and improving the quality of the steel;
(4) The state of the rolled piece in the pass is relatively stable, which is conducive to operation;
(5) The grooves of the oval pass on the roll are shallow; (6) The uneven deformation is serious, causing the pass to wear quickly and unevenly;
(7) The oval pass wears faster than the square pass. If used in a continuous rolling mill, it will easily destroy the established continuous rolling constants, making it difficult to adjust the rolling mill;
(8) The cross-sectional shape of the rolled piece formed in the oval pass is often incorrect or full of defects. This rolled piece enters the oval-square pass and is easily twisted. Therefore, the installation and adjustment requirements for the entrance guide device are relatively strict. , especially the splint on the entrance side of the square hole must be able to correctly clamp the rolled piece. The oval-square pass system is suitable for extended passes of small and wire rod mills.
