For billet continuous casting machines, due to the small cross-section of the billet and the short metallurgical length, generally no more than 10m, the bulging deformation of the billet is not the main problem. The structure of the secondary cooling zone is relatively simple. Usually only the upper part of the arc section is sprayed with water to cool the cast slab, while the lower part does not need to be cooled; secondly, no or fewer pairs of pinch rollers are installed in the entire arc area. The support and guide device in the secondary cooling zone is mainly used to support the dummy rod. Figure 2-16 Secondary cooling device of billet continuous casting machine.
