Electric reheating of ingot (electric reheating of ingot) The heating of a steel ingot in an electric furnace. There are many types of electric furnaces, and the electric furnaces used for heating steel ingots are mainly resistance heating furnaces. The heating elements used are silicon carbide and molybdenum disilicide. Molybdenum disilicide can make the furnace temperature up to 1600°C. Because the heating elements are very fragile, they are placed in the grooves of the furnace wall to prevent the steel ingots from being broken when entering and exiting. The resistance heating furnace can be designed as a single heating chamber according to the shape of the steel ingot. (See picture) The characteristics of resistance heating furnace are: (1) Good control performance, uniform heating of steel ingots, and the heating system can be strictly controlled according to different steel types; (2) The furnace is filled with protective gas, which can minimize the thickness of the oxide scale. The burning loss is only 0.1% to 0.3%; (3) Installation, operation, maintenance and repair are simple and easy. Resistance heating furnaces are ideal equipment for heating high-quality steel and alloy steel ingots, and are mostly used in areas with low electricity prices. The unit energy consumption for heating the cold ingot is about 300kw•h/t steel.
