The main purpose of lubrication in hot rolling process is to reduce roller wear, reduce rolling force, and improve product quality.
So far, the research on lubrication technology for hot rolling processes in various countries around the world is not sufficient. It is generally believed that after the oil-water mixture is delivered to the surface of the rolling mill, water and a portion of oil will quickly evaporate, burn, and generate combustion products mainly composed of ash under the action of heat; The other part will attach to the surface of the roller, enter the deformation zone, and come into contact with the hot metal, and undergo lubrication in a very short period of time.
On the other hand, the lubricant entering the deformation zone is conducive to the formation of an oxide film mainly composed of Fe3O4 on the surface of the roller under high temperature and pressure, thereby enhancing the wear resistance of the roller. At this time, the wear amount of the roller will significantly decrease.
