The methods for extracting vanadium from vanadium-titanium magnetite can be summarized into two types: the fire method is to extract vanadium indirectly through vanadium ferromagnetite concentrate or vanadium slag, and the wet method is to directly extract vanadium from vanadium ferromagnetite concentrate. At present, my country mainly relies on the indirect vanadium extraction method.
The pyrotechnic vanadium extraction process: the ore dressing product vanadium concentrate is directly put into a blast furnace or electric furnace for smelting, so that most of the vanadium in the ore enters the molten iron, and then the vanadium-containing molten iron is sent into the converter to send oxygen for blowing, so that the vanadium is enriched in the slag. , becoming vanadium slag. Vanadium slag is roasted, leached and filtered to obtain vanadium pentoxide. The biggest advantage of this method is the high recovery rate of vanadium, which is especially suitable for the utilization of low-grade vanadium ore. The disadvantage is that the ore processing capacity is large and the production scale is small, which is not suitable for large-scale steel industry production.
Wet vanadium extraction process: Add vanadium concentrate to pellets, then roast and soak in water to put sodium vanadate into solution, then add sulfuric acid to convert it into vanadium pentoxide. The water-soaked pellets are then used for ironmaking. The advantage of the wet method is that the process flow is short and the recovery rate of vanadium is high.
In the past 20 years, my country has accumulated a lot of experience in the vanadium extraction process from vanadium titanium magnetite, and pioneered the blast furnace ironmaking-atomization vanadium extraction method. Panzhihua Iron and Steel Company currently uses this method to produce vanadium slag on a large scale. The gist of the blast furnace ironmaking-atomized vanadium slag blowing method is to skim and rectify the molten iron in the intermediate tank, atomize it in the atomizer, and the atomized molten iron enters the atomization furnace for reaction, and the molten iron after vanadium extraction ( That is, “semi-steel”) flows into the semi-steel tank, causing it to form a vanadium slag layer on the surface of the semi-steel tank. The semi-steel is separated to obtain vanadium slag (picture below). In 1978, Panzhihua Iron and Steel Company had built two 120t atomization furnaces with an annual output of 83,100 to 89,000 tons of vanadium slag.
