Steam is mainly used in the steel rolling workshop for: flushing gas pipelines, keeping lubricating oil warm in winter, heating the pickling solution and water washing tank in the pickling section, cooling the thin plate mill rolls, atomizing heavy oil when burning heavy oil, etc.

The amount of steam consumed to produce 1 ton of qualified products is called the steam consumption per unit product. The calculation formula is: ω steam = ω total steam / Q. In the combined formula, ω steam – the unit consumption of steam, kg/t; ω total steam – Total steam consumption, kg; Qhe – the number of qualified products rolled, t.

The temperature of steam used in the steel rolling workshop is generally 150°C, and the pressure is determined according to the conditions of use. The steam pressure used to blow off the iron oxide scale on the surface of the sheet (continuous rolling) is 1568kPa; the steam pressure used to remove the oxide scale on the surface of the rail beam is 882kPa; others The steam pressure of the application is 392~588kPa.

According to different needs, there are three steam supply methods: continuous supply, regular supply and intermittent supply. For example, the steam used for heating the oil depot in winter needs to be continuously supplied. No matter which method of steam supply is used, steam consumption is calculated in t/h.
