Arcam AB of Sweden announced that the third atomizing reactor of AP&C, its powder manufacturing subsidiary in Montreal, Canada, is now in operation. This expansion will add significant capacity to its titanium powder production business.
AP&C uses proprietary plasma atomization technology, and designed and manufactured the third atomization reactor, using the most advanced process control system. With this new investment, AP&C now has two production lines, including reactors and related screening and mixing equipment that are completely focused on titanium products. The third reactor is dedicated to Inconel and other alloys. After the expansion, AP&C’s annual atomization capacity exceeds 150 tons of titanium Alloy.
“The demand for high-end titanium powder is driven by the rapid growth and adoption of additive manufacturing. Arcam is determined to serve the industry through cost-effective solutions, thereby transforming traditional manufacturing into additive manufacturing. A necessary condition is to be competitive. Provide the highest quality powder at a cost,” said Arcam CEO Magnus René.
“By investing in production capacity, we continue to promote AP&C’s mission to become a reference for high-quality titanium and other high-melting alloy powders in the aerospace and medical industries,” added Jacques Mallette, president of AP&C.
