It is an indicator indicating the difficulty of material crushing or grinding in mineral processing. The initial concept is the unit work consumed when crushing materials of unlimited particle size to 100m particle size.
The mathematical formula is: work index [kg2][208-01], which is the unit crushing work (kWh/t); and are the particle size of the material before and after crushing (calculated based on the sieve hole through which 80% of the weight of the material can pass). Since the 1970s, considering the impact of product granularity on unit power consumption, the definition range of work index has been expanded, and the grinding work index is expressed in terms of product fineness.
The measuring range of the rod milling work index is 6 to 65 mesh, and the measuring range of the ball milling work index is 65 to 500 mesh. It is measured on specific equipment and under specific conditions. According to different testing equipment and methods, it can be divided into impact crushing work index, rod milling work index, 5-axis cnc milling aluminum 6061 led high bay lighting parts work index and self-grinding work index, etc.
Each has a different calculation formula. Bond has established a set of methods for selecting and calculating crushing and grinding equipment required for industrial production based on work index derived from experiments and regression analysis.
Including determining equipment specifications, number of units, required power, grinding medium size, etc., and calculation method of weighing index. This method is widely used in the mineral processing industry in the United States, Canada, Japan and some European countries.
