Because cold working is neither oxidized during the heating process nor affected by cooling shrinkage after rolling, its products have smooth surfaces, precise dimensions, and good mechanical properties. Cold working can also obtain certain processing textures that make the product have obvious directionality (such as cold-rolled silicon steel sheets). Therefore, cold-processed products are widely used. The characteristics of the cold working process are that heat treatment and pickling are generally required before processing, and multiple intermediate heat treatments are required during the processing.
