Architectural firm ASAP has designed a hotel for downtown LA which is purposely made to look like a “rock in the landscape”.
The hotel is set to consist of 176 rooms, which will consist of 20 high-end suites; all 176 rooms will span over 28 floors. The hotel will include a rooftop bar and rooftop pool, which will together represent Los Angeles’
highest outdoor public space, with breathtaking views of the city’s skyline and mountains.
The hotel will also include a restaurant, a garden bar with a screen for films, a banquet area, conference spaces including screening rooms, outdoor whirlpool, retail space, business centre and fitness centre.
The project uses “existing historic buildings to create a distinctive icon in the landscape, framed by outdoor public spaces adjacent to the entry”.
Interiors will be simple and modern, using materials such as concrete, wood and glass, with a design tailored to emphasise the hotel’s cultural programme.
The hotel will capitalise on the “accelerating growth and development of the downtown area as a business and tourism destination”.
